There is no better way to experience the splendours Northumberland than on foot. The breathtaking scenery and many well established walking routes makes this area a paradise for walkers. As well as the large number of walks available in the Northumberland National Park the outstanding coastline stretching from Embleton to Bamburgh offers unsurpassed walks with views of Holy Island, Budle Bay and the splendours of Bamburgh Castle and the Farne Islands. Whatever the time of year the paths are open to you. With every season you will see a different side of the landscape. Springhill provides a great opening for you and your family to explore the area by foot. The small country lanes and footpaths over acres of fields leads you to many hidden wonders in the area.

Horse Riding

Slate Hall Riding Centre is only ¾ mile from Springhill and offers a varied selection of horses and ponies from 11.2hh to 16.2hh, lessons and treks suitable for both novice and experienced riders can gallop along white sands past castles and coves or take a steadier trek along quiet country lanes Open every day in the summer 9am - 5pm. winter, usually mornings and weekends only.
